Disposal Field Recovery
Project Information
Date: July, 2003
Location: Fryeburg, Maine
Facility: Inn and Restaurant
Design Flow: 1500 Gallons per Day
Wastewater Type: Commercial
The
owner of this upscale country inn and gourmet 45-seat restaurant
contacted Aeration Systems, LLC to rejuvenate the existing disposal
area serving the facility. The existing septic system was
nearing the end of its useful life as evidenced by effluent ponding
levels at the top of the concrete infiltration chambers.
Aeration
Systems, LLC designed, constructed, and installed a treatment system
consisting of an OxyPro 2000 processor tank set between the existing
septic tanks and the disposal area. The OxyPro 2000 was constructed
completely offsite to keep onsite excavation and installation time
to an absolute minimum. This allowed the restaurant to remain
open and avoid any costly interruptions in business. The majority
of wastewater trapped in the disposal area was removed by vacuum
truck in order to speed recovery of the system. The introduction
of effluent with negligible biological oxygen demand (BOD) and suspended
solids (TSS) and high levels of dissolved oxygen has eliminated
any wastewater ponding in the chambers.
