Family Campground
System Setting - Center of Campground
Project Information
Date: January, 2004
Location: Sebago Lake, Maine
Facility: RV and Tenting Campground
Design Flow: 4,000 Gallons per Day
Wastewater Type: Mixed
This
peaceful family campground in the heart of Maine's Lakes Region
has grown steadily in the years since its establishment.
As a facility like this increases in size, so does its production
of wastewater. This in turn increases the strain on its
existing onsite wastewater disposal system, often shorting the
life-span of the infiltration system.
Interior of OxyPro Aeration Compartment
The
campground owner was left with a choice of doubling the disposal
field size to handle the increased flow or installing an aerobic
wastewater treatment system to reduce the strength of the effluent
entering the disposal field. Engineers retained by the owners
of the campground selected Aeration Systems, LLC to design and construct
a custom OxyPro wastewater treatment system. The cleaned water
produced by the OxyPro represents a much lower clogging risk than
conventional septic tank effluent and allows for a reduction in
disposal area footprint. This OxyPro was installed in the
center of the campground, adjacent to the central bath house.
Given this public location it was vital that the treatment system
be quiet and odor-free. The use of high-efficiency linear
diaphragm compressors allowed the OxyPro to fulfill these requirements
while minimizing electrical consumption.
